Blueprint Engines recommends:
- Engines 400 CID and under: Electric fans rated at 3,000 CFM minimum
- Engines over 400 CID: Electric fans rated at 4,000 CFM minimum
BPE recommends electric fans that produce 3,000 CFM or more for engines that are 400 CID or less. Engines that are over 400 CID should use electric fans rated at 4,000 CFM or more.

- Electric fans that appear similar in size can vary greatly in airflow performance.
