What Fuel Filter Should I Run and Where Should I Install It?

Proper fuel filtration is critical for engine performance and fuel system longevity. Running the incorrect filter size or installing it in the wrong location can cause fuel delivery issues, poor performance, and premature component wear.

Carbureted Applications

For carbureted BluePrint Engines, we recommend installing the fuel filter after the fuel pump and before the carburetor.

Recommended Filtration

  • 10 to 30 micron fuel filter
  • Designed for carbureted fuel systems
  • Installed between the fuel pump and carburetor

This provides adequate filtration while allowing sufficient fuel flow to the carburetor.

EFI Applications

EFI systems require finer filtration than carbureted systems.

Typical EFI Filtration

  • Pre-filter: approximately 100 microns
  • Post-filter: EFI-rated fine filter

Always follow the EFI manufacturer's recommendations for filter sizing and placement.
