Recommended Fuel Pressure
For BluePrint Engines equipped with Holley carburetors, we recommend:
6 PSI fuel pressure
During normal operation, it is common to see fuel pressure fluctuate slightly depending on engine speed and demand.
Acceptable Range
- Typical running pressure: 5.5 to 6.5 PSI
- Recommended target: 6 PSI
- Above 6.5 PSI is generally not recommended
Excessive fuel pressure can force fuel past the needle and seat, causing rich running conditions and flooding.
Mechanical Fuel PumpsMost BluePrint mechanical fuel pump applications are designed to operate within the recommended fuel pressure range without the need for an external regulator.
If fuel pressure exceeds specifications, verify the fuel pump being used is appropriate for the application.
Electric Fuel PumpsWhen using an electric fuel pump, fuel pressure should always be verified with a gauge.
