Mechanical Fuel Pumps Most BluePrint mechanical fuel pump applications are designed to operate within the recommended fuel pressure range without the need for an external regulator. If fuel pressure exceeds specifications, verify the fuel pump being used is appropriate for the application. Electric Fuel Pumps When using an electric fuel pump, fuel pressure should always be verified with a gauge. Some electric fuel pumps may require a regulator to maintain proper pressure to the carburetor. ### ***How to Check Fuel Pressure*** 1. Install a fuel pressure gauge between the fuel pump and carburetor. 2. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. 3. Observe fuel pressure at idle and during throttle application. 4.
