Why Are Synthetic Oils Not Recommended on My Engine?

BluePrint Engines does not recommend using full synthetic oil during the initial break-in period. Conventional oil allows the piston rings to seat properly against the cylinder walls, which is critical for establishing good compression and long-term engine performance.

Synthetic oils contain friction-reducing additives that can slow or hinder the ring seating process during break-in. For this reason, conventional oil should be used for the initial break-in period and the first scheduled oil change.

Once the engine has completed the recommended break-in period and oil change, synthetic oil may be used if it meets the appropriate viscosity requirements for the engine.

Important Notes:

• Use the oil viscosity specified for your engine and operating conditions.
• Maintain proper oil levels at all times.
• Follow all break-in procedures outlined in your engine documentation.
• Excessive oil consumption during break-in can occur if ring seating is delayed by using synthetic oil too early.
