Do I need to run a PCV system on my BluePrint Engine?

BluePrint Engines recommends running a PCV system on our engines to help manage crankcase pressures and blow-by.

There are three main reasons we use a PCV valve where applicable.

1. Combustion gas that make it past the rings and carry vaporized fuel with it. This causes your oil to breakdown quicker and possibly start to sludge depending on change intervals. Having a PCV valve pulls fresh air through your breather and ingest the unburnt fuel through the induction system keeping the crankcase cleaner.

2. Heat creates moisture for a period on cold parts. Like a cold exhaust system, the inside of an engine creates condensation until the oil is hot enough to flash the water off it. Having a PCV valve helps draw the moisture out of the crankcase.

3. Running two breathers is not bad and in most cases is fine. You will likely notice oil will start to collect around the breathers and you will need to clean your valve covers more regularly.
